The Continuing Adventures of Desert Dave

It's fire season.
Fires are a double edged sword: a necessary part of the environmental cycle in many ways, but a potential disaster in others.
From a photographic standpoint, they'll ruin the light and the sky for most photography but make for some spectacular sunsets!

Spring rains feed brush growth in the foothills above the desert, but then the rains end and by mid-summer all that brush becomes dry fuel for fires.
Here, the "Day Fire" as it's being called, pumps rusty red smoke into the Antelope Valley.

Like I said....Nice sunsets!
